30 Things I learned in my 20s

In honor of my 30 Birthday, I thought it would be fun to write down some of the life lessons I learned in my 20s. My 20s were a whirlwind, I moved three different times, met so many different people, dated some interesting people, and learned a ton about myself personally and professionally!  So, here it goes:

  1. Friendships come and go, your family is always there
  2. Even if you don’t like the person, it doesn’t mean you can’t learn something from them
  3. When you’re planning an event, meeting, outing with friends, etc, it’s not IF it goes wrong, it’s WHEN it goes wrong!
  4. You don’t need that last drink
  5. Don’t take things so personally, especially when it comes to work! Remember, it’s your job and that person might not have the best delivery, but it’s not you!
  6. If you travel a lot, sign up for a Marriot rewards account, it will pay off!
  7. Ikea furniture is the ABSOLUTE worst to put together; just hire someone
  8. Maine has the best seafood
  9. People are very selfish, so don’t ever feel guilty canceling plans
  10. If you can’t be yourself in a relationship, then it’s a not a real relationship
  11. If he really likes you, he will make time to be with you
  12. Always have a flashlight and matches (you never know when you’re going to need it)
  13. It’s ok to fail; if you don’t, then you’re not taking any risks
  14. It’s ok to walk away from a situation; you don’t always need to have the last word.
  15. If you have a gut feeling about someone or something and no one believes you, don’t conform with the crowd, time always shows someone’s true colors
  16. The DMV, no matter where, is the worst place
  17. Actions speak louder than words
  18. Always have some homemade spaghetti sauce in the freezer for a rainy or sick day!
  19. People remember how you make them feel
  20. Amazon Prime is everything
  21. Less is always more, especially in a negotiation
  22. Silence is a very powerful thing in almost every situation
  23. Don’t wait for opportunities, create them
  24. A good mentor in the workplace is a game changer
  25. Men are just as sensitive as women (they just get over things quicker)
  26. Leggings are pants (despite what Blair Waldorf says)
  27. It’s ok to doubt yourself, that means you’re growing as a person
  28. The golden rule is the one to live by
  29.  Think of your end goal and then work backwards
  30. Be Kind
